April 23—Strategy One: Communication
How partners talk and listen to one another is key to their long-term sexual happiness. Neuroscience now shows that certain forms of conversation can open new pathways to erotic connection and intimacy. This class introduces specific dialogue techniques, which are developed by top experts in couples therapy and based on proven research and brain science.
April 30—Strategy Two: Confrontation
Many sexual relationships fail because they are conflict-avoidant. This class focuses on innovative confrontation skills, anger management, trauma resolution, and recovery from crisis in intimate relationships-including approaches to help high-affect clients and couples with intense reactivity.
May 7—Strategy Three: Facilitation
Physical injury, sudden illness, and long-term cancer recovery can cause retreat, resentment & guilt in sexual partnerships. This class looks beyond physical therapy to offer sex therapy techniques and other creative guidelines for helping individuals and couples retrain their unique erotic sensitivities-physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual.
May 21—Strategy Four: Negotiation
Affairs, infidelity, open marriage, and other forms of monogamy agreements can challenge the therapist as well as the couples who struggle to define their sexuality. The focus of this class is on negotiating a vision of a new monogamy, beginning with expanded self-esteem and compassionate understanding, and adding creative techniques that lead to erotic recovery.
May 28—Strategy Five: Self-Actualization
One of the most challenging scenarios for therapists is when our clients’ issues trigger our own personal traumas-past and present. This class is about taking care of ourselves by stepping into the vital archetype of the Wounded Healer-calling forth our abilities for empathy, power, and creating healthy boundaries for both ourselves and our clients.
What To Do When One of You Cheats
A two-part teleseminar by Dr. Tammy Nelson
12pm U.S. Eastern time
Tuesdays, June 18 and 25, 2013
This two hour teleclass with an expert in infidelity recovery will address some of the most important issues that affect anyone struggling after an affair. Whether you are still in a relationship or struggling on your own, whether you have been cheated on or you are the one who had the affair, this course can help you to understand why it happened and what you can do now. This course will show several concrete interventions for anyone recovering from an affair to help move into a new vision of monogamy.
There are many ways to create monogamy in a committed relationship after infidelity, and there are significant differences in the ways that men and women can create the future after an affair. Part two of this course will help participants define the terms of their erotic monogamy and focus on issues around trust, forgiveness, erotic recovery and how to create a long term vision of recovery.
Therapists and other professionals will learn direct interventions for couples and individuals directly applicable in all three phases of affair recovery, post infidelity. Professional participants will also learn how men and women’s treatment interventions differ and how trust and differentiating new monogamy agreements can create a vision of long term commitment and recovery.
Week One: What To Do When One of You Cheats
Do you stay up nights wondering “Why did they do it?” Or, maybe you know why it happened, but you are wondering “Can I make it work?” Maybe all of your well meaning friends and family are telling you to leave, but you’re confused.
Can you recover from infidelity? Good question. Now there is a place to go for answers. Dr. Tammy Nelson is an internationally recognized speaker and leader in the field of human relationships, sexuality and monogamy. And the author of The New Monogamy; Redefining Your Relationship After Infidelity.
Anyone who has gone through the trauma of an affair has questions: How do you trust again once your partner has cheated? Should I forgive them? Can we really make it work? Should I stay or go? Why did this happen?
What if you’re the one who cheated, how do you end the outside affair? How do you know if you are ready to make a re-commitment to your spouse or current partner? How can you help your partner learn to trust you again? Should you make your email and phone messages transparent? Can you talk about the affair once it’s over?
And the big question; What about sex? How do you ever recover sexually? Will you ever feel safe again? Do you need to trust each other to have sex? How do you create a new monogamy agreement going forward? Can you create a new vision of a relationship for the future?
All of these questions and more will be addressed in this teleseminar. Therapists and other professionals will learn direct interventions for couples and individuals directly applicable in all three phases of affair recovery, post infidelity.
Week Two: Women and Men Who Cheat and Why They Do It
Men and women cheat at about the same rate. Surprised? This class will explore why women cheat and what they need to recover from affairs.
Do women cheat for emotional reasons or is that a myth?
Do men cheat just for sex or are they looking for connection in their infidelity?
What are the unique reasons that men cheat, why is it different than women? Is there such a thing as a mid-life crisis affair? Why do more men seek out sex workers?
Is female infidelity caused by low self esteem? Why do they have difficulty hiding their affairs?
Did you know that both of you must learn to change lifelong patterns and overcome the temptation, perpetually, to be in a cheating relationship? And for some men and women, cheating can even be hereditary.
This course will show several concrete interventions for anyone recovering from an affair to help move into a new vision of monogamy.
There are many ways to create monogamy in a committed relationship after infidelity, and there are significant differences in the ways that men and women can create the future after an affair. 12 pm U.S. Eastern Time
March 26 & April 2, 2013
This course is a unique opportunity for women of any age and background to have direct support and insight from a top expert in the field of sexuality. Dr Nelson is an internationally recognized speaker and leader in the field of human relationships and erotic monogamy. Send in your questions and help other women on the call who might be worried about the same thing you are!
Week 1: Women’s Sexual Questions and Confessions
Do you wonder how to have a more intense or passionate sex life? Do you want a deeper emotional connection and at the same time reach greater heights in bed? Would you like to have multiple orgasms? Do you want to become a more mature sexual person and maintain a youthful enthusiasm for sex? Do you want to communicate your inner fantasies? Do you even know how to access them?
Most women have questions. This course will answer real questions from real women about sex. Anyone who signs up for this course will have the opportunity to email their questions in advance. These questions will be integrated into the course or responded to directly prior to the class.
Some questions that women ask that are typically covered include:
What if sex hurts? What if it’s boring? What if I can’t orgasm? What if I don’t feel safe? Do I really have a G-spot? What if I want to be more submissive (or dominant) in bed? How do I seduce a new partner, or a long term one? How do I move into a new level of Fifty Shades with my partner? And what is that squirting thing, is that real?
Nothing is too personal or can’t be covered in this course. Dr Tammy Nelson is a down to earth, licensed sex expert and author with many years experience working with a wide range of sexual issues – and there is nothing she hasn’t seen or heard in her almost three decades of clinical work. Don’t be shy, send in your questions today!
Week 2: Women’s Sexual Questions and Confessions, Part Two
Week Two will continue with women’s sexual questions and their answers. We will delve deeper into some real confessions about what women are most afraid of. What if my partner is no longer attracted to me? What if I don’t feel desire for my partner? What if I am too tired for sex? If we never have time for sex, how do I share my fantasies? How do I know my fantasies are normal? Are my genitals normal or should I get plastic surgery to correct them cosmetically?
Most women want to know if they are “normal.” Join the conversation and add your confessions to our course. You may find that your fears are the same as many other women’s deepest concerns. And with an expert sexologist and experienced psychotherapist to answer even your most embarrassing questions, you may find that nothing you can ask cannot be answered on this class.
Anyone who signs up for this course will have the opportunity to email their questions in advance of Week Two. These questions will be integrated into the course or responded to directly prior to the class.
