Two Day Training for Therapists, Coaches, and Healers
Couples therapy is the most difficult work you will ever do. Do you ever wish you had more advanced skills, better interventions and more insight into those really tough cases? Do affairs, sexual issues and long term and perpetual conflicts leave you feeling hopeless?
It’s easy to doubt yourself as a therapist. This training will help you work with couples to create more connected and intimate partners. We will focus on sex, affairs, betrayal, trauma, desire, intimacy and all the skills you need to work on the tough issues.
Participants will:
- Understand how to generate deeper connection and handle conflict with ease;
- Learn somatic strategies for healing;
- Learn how to use Imago relationship therapy and other dialogue techniques for communication;
- Discover how to teach couples to increase intimacy and passion, resolve long standing conflict and create deeper levels of empathy.
- Understand how you, as the therapist, can shift your clients in one or two sessions.
Using Neuroscience, attachment, Imago, tantra and somatic healing, we will help you take your couples to places they may never have dreamed possible. Watch years of stubborn displacement fade away in only moments of treatment. Help couples move into more erotic connection, resolve long standing resentment, and find love again.
Focus on your own personal effectiveness, challenge yourself to grow into your own potential as a healer, and transform your path.
One day Workshop for Couples; Professionals and a Partner
In a safe and fluid environment designed especially for therapists and their partners, we will explore the techniques learned in the training to create a deeper connection for you in your relationship. Bring a partner of your choice to practice new levels of connection and intimacy.
This workshop is a unique opportunity to advance your personal skills in a safe space. Create a vision of your future and create a new monogamy-a partnership you have only dreamt about.

April 23—Strategy One: Communication
How partners talk and listen to one another is key to their long-term sexual happiness. Neuroscience now shows that certain forms of conversation can open new pathways to erotic connection and intimacy. This class introduces specific dialogue techniques, which are developed by top experts in couples therapy and based on proven research and brain science.
April 30—Strategy Two: Confrontation
Many sexual relationships fail because they are conflict-avoidant. This class focuses on innovative confrontation skills, anger management, trauma resolution, and recovery from crisis in intimate relationships-including approaches to help high-affect clients and couples with intense reactivity.
May 7—Strategy Three: Facilitation
Physical injury, sudden illness, and long-term cancer recovery can cause retreat, resentment & guilt in sexual partnerships. This class looks beyond physical therapy to offer sex therapy techniques and other creative guidelines for helping individuals and couples retrain their unique erotic sensitivities-physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual.
May 21—Strategy Four: Negotiation
Affairs, infidelity, open marriage, and other forms of monogamy agreements can challenge the therapist as well as the couples who struggle to define their sexuality. The focus of this class is on negotiating a vision of a new monogamy, beginning with expanded self-esteem and compassionate understanding, and adding creative techniques that lead to erotic recovery.
May 28—Strategy Five: Self-Actualization
One of the most challenging scenarios for therapists is when our clients’ issues trigger our own personal traumas-past and present. This class is about taking care of ourselves by stepping into the vital archetype of the Wounded Healer-calling forth our abilities for empathy, power, and creating healthy boundaries for both ourselves and our clients.

Sex & Pain teleclass
Just Relax! Understanding Sexual Pain & Anxiety
A two-hour teleseminar by Talli Rosenbaum & Dr. Tammy Nelson
Available June 11, 2013, as MP3 files
$99 (approved for 2 AASECT CEs)
Painful sex and the inability to experience vaginal intercourse are complex concerns that many sex therapists, medical professionals, lay people and others who treat couples and individuals need to understand more about. Learn about the various causes, treatments and alternatives in this introductory course. This two-hour course for therapists and health professionals will address sexual health and function, the pelvic floor, and the roles that pain, anxiety and cultural factors play in the dynamics of relationships. This course will focus on the problems and solutions for pain and anxiety during sex and the ways that these issues impact relationships. We will cover vestibulodynia, vaginismus, unconsummated relationships, and couples who report, “we can’t have sex” for a variety of reasons related to complaints about sexual discomfort.
Part One: Understanding and treating sexual pain disorders
Vaginismus and dyspareunia (pain with intercourse) are understood to have multi-factorial components. Traditionally, medical professionals deal with the physical aspects of the disorder while sex therapists and psychotherapists address the psychological aspects, including anxiety and aversion. This workshop will present some of the difficulties with this compartmentalization model and introduce an integrated, mindfulness based treatment approach more useful to medical professionals, physical therapists, and sex therapists.
- What are the differences in the terms vulvodynia, vaginismus, dyspareunia and pelvic floor dysfunction?
- Are these problems physical or psychological and who should treat them?
- What is pelvic floor physical therapy?
- What is the psychology of the pelvic floor?
- What is the role of mindfulness in treating sexual pain?
- How does psychotherapy play a role in treating sexual pain?
- What way can couples therapy help successfully move treatment forward?
Objective: Participants will be introduced to the multi-factorial nature of sexual pain and to mindfulness based treatment protocol to address anxiety and aversion in women with sexual pain disorders
Part Two: Exploring the dynamics of anxiety and pain – Unconsummated Relationships and Sexual Aversion
The scientific literature pertaining to unconsummated relationships relates specifically to sexual function, whether vaginismus of the female partner, or premature ejaculation or erectile dysfunction of the male partner. However, the unconsummated relationship is not simply about sexual dysfunction. As a sociological phenomenon, unconsummated relationships and sexual avoidance may be related to societal expectations, partner dynamics and systemic anxiety.
- What are the common causes of unconsummated relationships?
- What are the common ways couples present in therapy?
- What roles do culture and belief systems play?
- What role does anxiety play?
- What are the ways in which we can help our clients presenting with unconsummated marriage and sexual avoidance?
- How can we reframe the perception of therapy as necessary to achieve the” goal “of having sex, to a mutual journey of intimate exploration?
Objective: Participants will be introduced to a biopsychosocial approach to the phenomena of unconsummated marriage.
Talli Yehuda Rosenbaum, M.Sc., PT, IF, is both a physical therapist and an AASECT certified sex therapist, who is an internationally recognized expert on the integrated roles of physiotherapy, sex therapy, and couples therapy, in the treatment of sexual pain disorders and unconsummated relationships.
Tammy Nelson, PhD, LPC, is a Certified Sexologist and a Certified Imago Therapist. She is the author of Getting the Sex You Want: Shed Your Inhibitions and Reach New Heights of Passion Together, and The New Monogamy; Redefining Relationships After Infidelity.
