New Year Intentions for 2016

Every year on January 1st, we start thinking about our “New Years Resolutions” and try to focus on things we intend to change, but very rarely do any of us follow through past Valentine’s Day.  This can make us feel not only disappointment with ourselves, but a deeper sense of failure if we don’t achieve our goals for the year. I recommend, instead, setting some global intentions for the New Year.  What do you want to feel in 2016?  How do you want to live your life?  What do you want to leave behind?  What are you ready to heal?  What do you want to aim for?  What plan would you like to move forward into the New Year?  Intentions leave me open to shift and move with life, with all of the opportunities and obstacles that come up during the year.

Intention [noun]: 1. A thing intended; an aim or plan. “she was full of good intentions

2. (Medicine): The healing process of a wound.

As a therapist, writing coach, and business consultant, one of my first questions to new clients is about their goals. With these quantifiable and realistic goals in mind, we create a plan of intentions that will steer the course of progress towards those goals.

So today, at the beginning of the rest of your life, I ask you: what are your intentions for 2016?

Share your intentions  with me and all our friends on social media: My Facebook, my Twitter: @DrTammyNelson, or even on Pinterest.
