This is a beautiful article on finding what makes you happy.
In order to be successful, to pursue our passions and to live a full, active life we must be willing to endure pain. Success at anything comes through hard work. Often our greatest opportunities come from failures. We learn to let go of things we cared for but that don’t serve us any longer to welcome in new possibilities.
Our society is focused on instant gratification. Many people fail because they take the growing pains as a sign that what they want is permanently out of reach. We also learn what we truly want in this way. We have to want the end result enough to endure the pain and changes in order to get there. That means we tend to choose the struggles that resonate with us and we all find our own path.
Who you are is defined by the values you are willing to struggle for. People who enjoy the struggles of a gym are the ones who get in good shape. People who enjoy long workweeks and the politics of the corporate ladder are the ones who move up it. People who enjoy the stresses and uncertainty of the starving artist lifestyle are ultimately the ones who live it and make it.
