“We are a lost generation of women who were sold a false bill of goods about fertility, motherhood and female sexual freedom,” says Dr. Wendy Walsh, writing about her own experience and that of her friends. Walsh believes more casual sex has led to fewer men being willing to commit to one woman. Women may believe that sex will lead to marriage, but marriage follows sex less frequently than it used to. Walsh says the focus should be on “slow love,” citing research showing that couples who waited at least 30 days before having sex have a much higher rate of still being together a year later.
