Tonight many across the world begin their Christmas celebrations. In honor of the holiday, I want to share with you a few of my favorite seasonal quotes and poems.
Our hearts grow tender with childhood memories and love of kindred, and we are better throughout the year for having, in spirit, become a child again at Christmas-time. – Laura Ingalls Wilder
Christmas is not as much about opening our presents as opening our hearts. – Janice Maeditere
I have always thought of Christmas time, when it has come round, as a good time; a kind, forgiving, charitable time; the only time I know of, in the long calendar of the year, when men and women seem by one consent to open their shut-up hearts freely, and to think of people below them as if they really were fellow passengers to the grave, and not another race of creatures bound on other journeys. – Charles Dickens
Christmas is forever, not for just one day, for loving, sharing, giving, are not to put away like bells and lights and tinsel, in some box upon a shelf. The good you do for others is good you do yourself.
Peace on Earth, good will to men, kind thoughts and words of cheer, are things we should use often and not just once a year.
from “Let Every Day Be Christmas” by Norman Wesley Brooks
May you have the gladness of Christmas which is hope; The spirit of Christmas which is peace; The heart of Christmas which is love. – Ada V. Hendricks
