Let’s Stop Knocking Choices Moms Make

Reflecting on the recent appointment of, and media frenzy regarding the pregnant Marissa Mayer to lead Yahoo, Dr. Laura Berman says this is not a conversation we should be having. She points out that we don’t have the same concerns or expectations of fathers, and says this double standard is a disservice to men and women. Dr. Berman also notes the irony of the common negative societal judgment of women who choose to be stay-at-home moms, and the assumptions we make about this. More cultural support for the choices women make may be more productive than an airing of common misconceptions.
