HuffingtonPost polled it’s readers about how they would define cheating and the responses varied wildly. In this day and age of live-time chat through texts, Twitter, and facetime, cheating has become very complicated. This is exactly why it’s important for couples to carefully negotiate an explicit monogamy agreement, before someone breaches their partner’s definition of fidelity.

The point about negotiating an explicit monogamy agreement before anyone breaches their partner's definition stuck with me, because it's the conversations people avoid that cause the most damage. My own take is that these talks feel awkward precisely because they force you to admit you don't automatically assume the same rules.
