Sophie Fontanel’s story is a fascinating one – she willingly spent 12 years in celibacy, not because she was pursuing a future as a nun, but because it felt so good. In this opinion piece for NYTimes, she tells of the many pleasures and lessons she experienced in her twelve years of refraining from sex including “the role of art in eroticism, the power of dreams, the softness of clothes, the refuge and the importance of elegance.” It’s a fascinating story and I look forward to giving her new book “The Art of Sleeping Alone” a read.
