This change in the brain can also create a shift in the way we experience sensory input from our genitals. This research helps to link specific types of abuse with the symptoms experienced by survivors into adulthood. This neurological research will encourage and guide further study so that we can pinpoint accurate and beneficial therapy techniques to help survivors cope and normalize what they are experiencing.
